IPhoto 9.0 download needed Is there a free download for iPhoto 9.0? I am trying to upgrade a catalogue from 8.1.2 and the instructions on the apple website direct you to an incorrect version. Thank you in advance. Also, I have a second computer that runs iPhoto 11, version 9.4. Do you use iPhoto on your mac for your photos and images? Do you have duplicate images sitting in your library? Enter ADD For iPhoto. It is designed to work with iPhoto '11 (version 9.3) and will scan your library for duplicates that have accumulated over time and waste hard drive space. ADD for iPhoto was designed from the ground up to be safe.
A smarter way to find your favorites.
Photos intelligently declutters and curates your photos and videos — so you can easily see your best memories.
Focus on your best shots.
Photos emphasizes the best shots in your library, hiding duplicates, receipts, and screenshots. Days, Months, and Years views organize your photos by when they were taken. Your best shots are highlighted with larger previews, and Live Photos and videos play automatically, bringing your library to life. Photos also highlights important moments like birthdays, anniversaries, and trips in the Months and Years views.
Your memories. Now playing.
Memories finds your best photos and videos and weaves them together into a memorable movie — complete with theme music, titles, and cinematic transitions — that you can personalize and share. So you can enjoy a curated collection of your trips, holidays, friends, family, pets, and more. And when you use iCloud Photos, edits you make to a Memory automatically sync to your other devices.
The moment you’re looking for, always at hand.
With Search, you can look for photos based on who’s in them or what’s in them — like strawberries or sunsets. Or combine search terms, like “beach 2017.” If you’re looking for photos you imported a couple of months ago, use the expanded import history to look back at each batch in chronological order. And in the Albums section, you’ll find your videos, selfies, panoramas, and other media types automatically organized into separate albums under Media Types.
Fill your library, not your device.
iCloud Photos can help you make the most of the space on your Mac. When you choose “Optimize Mac Storage,” all your full‑resolution photos and videos are stored in iCloud in their original formats, with storage-saving versions kept on your Mac as space is needed. You can also optimize storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, so you can access more photos and videos than ever before. You get 5GB of free storage in iCloud — and as your library grows, you have the option to choose a plan for up to 2TB.
Make an edit here, see it there. With iCloud Photos, when you make changes on your Mac like editing a photo, marking a Favorite, or adding to an album, they’re kept up to date on your iPhone, your iPad, and iCloud.com. And vice versa — any changes made on your iOS or iPadOS devices are automatically reflected on your Mac.
All your photos on all your devices. iCloud Photos gives you access to your entire Mac photo and video library from all your devices. If you shoot a snapshot, slo-mo, or selfie on your iPhone, it’s automatically added to iCloud Photos — so it appears on your Mac, iOS and iPadOS devices, Apple TV, iCloud.com, and your PC. Even the photos and videos imported from your DSLR, GoPro, or drone to your Mac appear on all your iCloud Photos–enabled devices. And since your collection is organized the same way across your Apple devices, navigating your library always feels familiar.
Resize. Crop. Collage. Zoom. Warp. GIF. And more.

Also, I have a second computer that runs iPhoto 11, version 9.4.3- that doesn't help me with my older library correct?
That computer should be able to open the iPhoto 8.1.2 library and to upgrade it. Just connect the drive with the iPhoto Library to the computer that runs iPhoto 9.4.3.
You may ru into permission problems, however. set the 'Ignore Ownership' flag on the drive with the library.

I have Iphoto '09, version 8.1.2 (424). I am having an identical problem. All my pictures are imported into Iphoto when I downloaded them from my camera. Until recently, I thought that the pictures were actually saved in the library. Since I need to crop my pictures for the web, and Iphoto doesn't do that, I purchased Photoshop Elements to do that. To my surprise, when I try to get a picture from Iphoto to Photoshop, it can't be done. That was when I realized, after wasting a lot of time, that the photos are not in the Iphoto library.
I started naming the pictures on Iphoto so I had a recognizable file name to open on Photoshop. Couldn't find it. I looked in the Backup folder and the Transfer software folder (I have a Nikon camera), and the names I entered in the Iphoto display, could not be found.
When I am trying to upload a photo to the web, I get the Finder folder showing with an active folder called 'Photos' under 'Media', which only displays Iphoto and PhotoBooth. This is a folder name that I cannot find in my HD anywhere when I look for it. If I edit a picture with Photoshop, I am not going to save it back to Iphoto (not sure whether it will work properly). How do I get my folder of edited photos to show when I want to upload a picture to the web?
Where (the name of the folder) do I find the pictures I see displayed on the Iphoto library, including any name changes, keywords added, and so on?See my response to your other post.
The above question is too big to read, so this is what it says>>>>I finally got the new IPhoto 11 to download after problems with the installation; now when I open it, a message pops up that says to continue I need to prepare the old version for the new....so I downloaded the preparation download and it says it is installed, but when I go back to open IPhoto again after this installation, the same message keeps popping up! I cannot find any of my pictures either. What is going wrong and how can I continue with IPhoto and update and get my pictures again? This all has happened because I made a big book of my travels and when I went to purchase it it said I could no longer buy books using the old IPhoto 7.........so I updated everthing and bought the new version and did everything it said, but still not working:::HELP!
You have to download and run the upgrader then launch iPhoto. Go to the utilities folder in Applications and launch the iPhoto upgrader. Then launch iPhoto and it will upgrade the library
LNI have a new downloaded OS X now my Iphoto version 8.2 needs upgrading I downloaded 9.3 but I cant use it as I need a minimum of 9.1 how do I do this ?
You can purchase the newest version of iPhoto on the Mac app store. Cost (in US dollars) is $14.99.
It sounds like you downloaded an iPhoto update to take version 9.1 up to 9.3. You can't use it with version 8.x.
Best of luck.I got my iMac quite a few months ago, and ever since then my iMovie and iPhoto has refused to update, now it even won't let me download my 'iBooks Author' app. My iMac was bought used, but an employee at the apple store gave it a new 'brain' after that and also made the iMac have the same features as the iMac one bigger in size. The specific alert that comes up when I try to update iMovie and iPhoto is: 'This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled'. I have talked to the friend/employee about this problem and the only way he could think of was to get a hold of apple and allow them to access my computer remotely to try and fix it. BUT- I really don't want strangers going onto my computer to be honest. So I was wondering, is there another way I could fix this myself? I have tried to use 2 of my apple IDs to update it but neither work. And it would be really good if I could update soon because ever since I got the new mavericks update it isn't letting me use iPhoto 'till I update it again, because apparently this version doesn't support the old iPhoto. I really need to update so I can download photos onto my computer again!!! Hopefully all my photos are not gone, I have never got to back them up yet! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!
You can not login into iTunes or the App Store using VPP credentials. You must purchase all apps/book/etc. from the VPP website. Then you can redeem the codes thru itunes/app store or import the codes thru apple configurator. Here is the url for the VPP website: https://volume.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/login?cc=us
(It will not affect any of the apps you already have but the id can only be used for VPP.)
Cheers,
Aleccan't open my iPhoto it says i need the upgrader did that and it still won't open.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

TDI have just got a new macbook pro to replace my old white macbook. On the new laptop there is no ilife/no iphoto ( have checked applications, finder and spotlight.
All I need is something like iphoto 6. Downloads from the camera, easy to store, can tweak pictures to improve look of them, drag to desktop to upload into ebay. Simple and easy and quick. Is there a free download for iphoto 6 anywhere out there on the web. I have looked but can't find one. New laptop runs OS 10.8.3
I don't want to buy from app store as I don't need or will ever use all the fancy bits.
If there is no freebie download can you recommend any other simple picture edit program that will do the same ?
Many thanks
BrianiPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand come for free with every new Mac. First, if your computer didn't come with iPhoto, open the App Store (you can find it in the Dock or in > App Store), go to Purchases tab and download iPhoto for free.
I recommend you to give iPhoto '11 a try, and if you don't like it, you will have to purchase an older iLife version in a DVD and install itI've noticed a practical issue with iPhoto's File->'Subscribe to Photo Feed...' feature.
Every time that iPhoto checks a subscribed RSS Photo Feed for new content it will re-download each and every photo in the feed. This occurs even if iPhoto has already downloaded each image, they all have unique GUIDs set, and no content in the feed has changed since the last time it polled for it.
My best guess is that this happens if the server offering the feed does not produce the proper cache-control parameters in the HTTP Headers that are sent by the server when the RSS feed is accessed by iPhoto.
Does anyone know what parameter/value pairs need to be set in the HTTP headers to prevent iPhoto from re-downloading RSS enclosures that it already has?
This is a very practical problem for feeds with a large number of photos of large file size. Besides the obvious massive waste of bandwidth, the user receives an annoying error whenever they try to quit iPhoto before the feed and all of it's images have been re-downloaded yet again. Here is an example of the HTTP headers for two of the images in the feed.
Any red flags in there that you think might be causing iPhoto to think it needs to re-download the images after it's already downloaded them once?

Content-Type: image/jpeg;I'm very pleased to see that uploading photos to Flicker via iPhoto 11 works an awful lot better than it did with iPhoto 9. I still don't like the fact that it's synced - I would prefer it to just upload - but I think I can live with it.
What I can't live with, is iPhoto downloading photos from Flickr that I uploaded by other means in the past (ie via the website and Uploadr on a Windows PC). I noticed it was doing this by hitting the right arrow key while viewing the last photo in the Photos view and all these random old photos (which I haven't imported into iPhoto yet) popped up. When I view the information for these photos all that displays is one sentence: 'This photo was downloaded from your Flickr account.' (None of the metadata I manually entered on Flickr has been downloaded with the image.)
How do I stop this from happening? I already have the photos iPhoto is downloading from Flickr elsewhere on my SSD. SSD space is valuable so I don't want duplicates of these photos.
I tried deleting one of the offending photos in iPhoto and it disappeared from Flickr. I tried moving the original files out of the iPhoto package file and they don't seem to disappear from Flickr but they show up in iPhoto as errors. Rebuilding the library does not clear these errors.
Only 2 of the 121 sets I uploaded to Flickr before I started using iPhoto have been downloaded so far and my guess is that's because I opened the sets in iPhoto (to see what would happen). Can anyone confirm if this is correct? If I avoid opening any more old Flickr sets in iPhoto will that avoid the photos being downloaded to my SSD?
Otherwise, if iPhoto is slowly but surely going to download all my old Flickr photos, I will end up with about 7-9GB of duplicated files which I absolutely do not want.
If I want to stop syncing because of this issue, is there a way to remove the conncetion between iPhoto 11 and Flickr without losing any photos from Flickr? Including both photos I have uploaded without iPhoto (2006-2012) and with iPhoto (2012 onwards).
Many many thanks in advance for your help!
BronwenWelp, evidently I just like the sound of my own voice so here's one last post on the topic.
This whole thing was seriously driving me crazy so here's what I've done:
Went to http://www.flickr.com/account/sharing/ ---> Account links ---> edit
Next to 'iPhoto OS X' clicked 'Remove permission?' & confirmed at the next step
My understanding is that because I've revoked permission on Flickr's side, iPhoto doesn't have the power to wipe anything from Flickr now. I think this means I can also remove the account on iPhotos's side, and maybe even those duplicate photos it downloaded, but I'm not brave enough to test either of those out yet.
Moving forward, I think I'm going to use Flickery (http://www.flickeryapp.com) to upload my photos to Flickr instead: this means I can edit everything in iPhoto, add all the titles/descriptions/tags in iPhoto, then just do a one way upload using Flickery instead of a two way sync from iPhoto.I cant seem to open some photos on Iphoto. I downloaded like 3 months ago from my phone into the iphoto. I could access ALL of my photos back then but when I try and access them now I cant seem to open the file. When i open iphoto and open the folder thats on it, i can see ALL the photos that are there but when I click on different ones some appear in the larger screen but A LOT of them dont appear. Iphoto seems to have erased the file or I dont know.
Also I tried clicking on the photo that doesnt appear and making it 'Reveal it on finder' - 'original file' and it says 'The operation can’t be completed because the item can’t be found.'.
I really want those photos because they involve a really special family vacation, please help me find those photosA LOT of them dont appear.
What do you see in the window when you click on those? A blank, black window? An exclamation mark? What?I use an Mac OSX 10.6.8 with iPhoto 09 to download digital images from two Canon DSLRs. Until the last week, there has been no problem whatever in launching the import procedure once the USB connection has been connected and the camera switched on. Now the process will not kick in at all for either camera. I can't find a solution through iPhoto help or from other sources.
Any ideas to fix? (I admit I have not tested the USB cable at this time). What does 'kick in' mean?
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
Post back with the result.I updated to OS X Yosemite but iPhoto will not download, is saying because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. Now I cannot access ANY of my photos...how can I fix this????
If you are logged in with the Apple ID that was used to purchase iPhoto or to set up the computer if it came preinstalled then quit iPhoto, backup your iPhoto library and drag the iphoto application to the trash (do not empty the trash yet) and then go to the App store and install iPhoto
If that does not resolve contact App store support - link is on the right of the App store window

iLife 06 might run under 10.4 on an eMac. It's requirements are listed here: iLife '06: System Requirements. Look for a copy of either at Amazon.com or eBay.com.
OTHow do I restore photos from iPhone 5 to iPhoto. I erased all my events in iPhoto by mistake so need to sync them phone upstream to lions 10.7....not even apple support could help?? I plug my phone into iPhoto and it sees the camera roll but none of my event so I can move them back into iPhoto
Your photos are gone. When you synch your phone with iPhoto, the actual picture file does not synch, rather is is a very small thumbnail file suitable for viewing on the phone, but of such small resolution that it's useless for anything other than viewing on the phone. In any case, Apple makes no way for you to retrieve these thumbnail file.
If you deleted photos from iPhoto, your only hope is if you have Time Machine or another backup that might have had those photos. Are they perhaps still in the 'Trash' within the iPhoto app?
